We are constantly turning to certain style-setters for timeless yet directional inspiration in fashion. Females over 40 are, of course, at the top of the list. Because those in this particular group just seem to get it when you think about it, given their experience of curating a well-balanced wardrobe. To that, cool jeans came up as an absolute must when we recently tapped stylish ladies over 40 to fill us in on the go-out basics they wear on repeat. So we thought we'd dive a little bit more into this topic.
We chatted with a range of fashionable and inspiring women in the age bracket for their expert opinions to uncover that further intel on the general denim trends women over 40 swear by. With that in mind, keep scrolling to find out the different jean cuts that the women concerned are never going to stop wearing for nights out, the workplace, and anywhere else. But note, age is literally just a number (and you're supposed to wear whatever you want, no matter when your birthday falls), so all the denim trends below could work for anyone.
"As a denim lover, high-rise, straight denim is a style I'm going to wear every season. For instance, 501s of the iconic Levi. On every silhouette, this vintage-inspired fit flatters. Since I love mixing feminine and male inspiration in the same look, straight-cut denim marries well with a blouse of silk and can be worn day and night.
"I love a full-length jean with a slightly wider leg and little to no distressing — still with a high elevation and certainly a heel. It doesn't matter what I pair up, it has some shine that I love."
"This season and next, I know that for a fashion-forward look I will continue to wear mom jeans with a high-rise in pale blue, white, or gray tones.
"At the moment, I love a few denim styles. I love skinny jeans tucked in high-knee boots. I'm in a straight leg high-rise as well. I like them because they look super cool and fresh. I wear them with jeans, but with some kind of pumps, sneakers, or slides they always look great.
